Chemical Sciences

The theme Chemical Sciences encompasses most areas related to chemistry. Traditional chemistry areas like inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry and theoretical chemistry are included as well as biological, atmospheric and materials chemistry. Development of new compounds and materials that offer unique solutions and opportunities within fields like energy, magnetism and catalysis are in this theme. Basic chemical processes are studied both experimentally and theoretically to improve our understanding of, for example, biomineralization, atmospheres and biological systems. Interactions in chemical systems from the smallest molecule-molecule to large protein-protein systems are investigated with cutting-edge spectroscopy and diffraction techniques, as well as state-of-the-art computational methods.
