Earth & Planetary Systems Sciences
Using a multidisciplinary approach, research is conducted in astronomy, astrophysics, geochemistry, paleobiology and sedimentology by studying Sun-like stars and planetary systems to understand the formation and evolution of terrestrial planets and the history of the Earth and the life it supports. Topics including: star/planet formation, formation/evolution of the solar system, early Earth evolution, geochronology, ancient depositional environments and climate, origin and diversification of life, Earth and planetary physics, large scale tectonics and seismology.
The departments, centers and sections mentioned below are examples of places where it would be possible to conduct research within the programme area. As is stated in the TALENT Guide for Applicants, applicants are to indicate the research department they see most fit to host their project.
